Earth Hour 03/'11

"At 8:30 PM on Saturday 26th March 2011, lights will switch off around the globe for Earth Hour and people will commit to actions that go beyond the hour."

Earth Hour is a campaign founded by the Aussies in 2007. Their aim, already from the start, was to encourage companies and personal households to, foremostly, switch of their lights. However, they also encourage participants to turn off any unnecessary electronical items.

The WWF, known as the World Wide Fund, was the first to take initiative for holding the 'Earth Hour'. On 31st of March 2007, the 'Earth Hour' was held from 19:30 to 20:30. It started just in Sydney, where an amazing 2,2 million households turned of their lights.

In 2008, due to the impressive results of the past year, the 'Earth Hour' became a global event. The leading search engine, Google, took part by setting their index page's background to black, instead of the default white. The 'Earth Hour moved to being from 19:00 to 20:00. A total of 400 cities around the world took part.

In 2009 a total of 4 000 cities in 88 countries took part. Most of EU's countries became official partners of the 'Earth Hour'. The time was moved to, the modern, 20:30-21:30, making it easier for households to turn off lights.

In 2010 4 600 cities in 126 countries took part.

I do not find the 'Earth Hour' as a major part of my day. It is worth mentioning that its trend has gone below its average, leaving it less important for those who participate. It is quite ironic that I'm sitting here, and posting this at 20:31, yes, I won't participate. Having a look outside, I can't really make out if people are participating or not.

On the 10 th of October I got my iPhone 4. And this is my first blog post from the iPhone :). The previous posts were posted from my Sony Ericsson f305. But now I have this rly cool mobile :D.

It's -12 over here and we're all freezing...

Friday 13th

o.O it's friday the 13th! Nthing bad has happened, right? It's the only time this year this happens. In 2nd grade an.ke. Learnt of this myth :-D
